Here you will learn all about Isabella d'Este, the First Lady of the Renaissance.

Isabella d'Este was a happy princess, golden-haired with sparkling dark eyes, quick to smile and interested in everything and everybody.  She had her mother's discerning taste and her father's fondness for music, the arts, and learning.

Riding horseback, dancing, and singing were some of her favorite hobbies.  People were often amazed at her ability to discuss serious subjects with ease.  Isabella was a great letter writer and wrote to her close relatives almost everyday.

She had extravagant taste and spent an overwhelming amount of money on jewels, fine linens, decorations, and much more expensive things.  Isabella grew frail near the time of her death, and on the thirteenth of February, 1539, she died.
